THE VETS PROGRAM FINDS JOBS FOR
HOMELESS VETERANS.

 

What is VETS?

A WorkSource Snohomish County collaborative effort between the Snohomish County Workforce Development Council and the Washington State Employment Security Department, VETS is a Homeless Veterans Reintegration Project through the Department of Labor. The VETS initiative will help eligible homeless veterans become stable and will aid them in accessing the resources available to them, ranging from rent to medical to finding jobs. VETS also has
resources available to help veterans not only find jobs, but also to determine career paths and future training options.

Who’s eligible?
Any veteran who was discharged under conditions other than dishonorable
Any veteran who does not have a regular, stable and safe place to sleep at night

 

Eligibility Guidelines

Eligible veterans will meet the definition of homeless at the time of the application and will be able to provide proof of their identification, selective service status, verification of veteran status and a copy of their social security card.

"Homeless" is defined under the McKinney-Vento Act, and is defind as:

            1. an individual who lacks a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence;

            2. an individual who has a primary nighttime resident that is:

                     a.  a supervied publicly or privately operated shelter designed to provide

                          temporary living accommodations (including welfare hotels,

                          congrerate shelters, and transitional housing for the mentally ill);

                     b.  an institution that provides a temporary residence for individuals

                          intended to be institutionalized; or

                     c.  a public or private place not designated for, or ordinarily used as, a

                          regular sleeping accommodation for human beings.

A "veteran" under this program is defined as a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable.
