Celebrate Success 2006 a huge success!

With almost 200 people in attendance, the Snohomish County Dr. Bonnie DunbarWorkforce Development Council's 4th annual Celebrate Success dinner and award ceremony was a huge success.  The event was held at the Future of Flight Museum in Mukilteo, Washington and featured keynote speaker Dr. Bonnie Dunbar, former NASA astronaut and current President and CEO of Seattle's Museum of Flight.  Dr. Dunbar spoke about the history of our nation's involvement in space exploration and research as well as the need for more young Americans to pursue education in math and science fields.

Other noted guests included the Commissioner of the Washington Employment Security Department, Karen Lee, as well as Ross Bogue, Vice President and General Manager of the Boeing Company's Everett site; Bob Drewel, Executive Director of the Puget Sound Regional Council; Larry Hanson, publisher emeritus of the Everett Herald; and Senator Maria Cantwell's sister, Carey Cantwell Clay, who presented the Senator Maria Cantwell Award for Life Long Learning on the Senator's behalf.WDC President Sue Ambler (right) congratulates Individual Achievement Award Courtney Dukes (left)

Celebrate Success 2006 recognized the achievements of many WorkSource Snohomish County clients in their efforts to better their lives as well as the WorkSource Case Managers who helped them along the way.  In addition, Celebrate Success applauded local businesses who invest in the education and training of our county's workforce. A list of award winners follows.

Youth Employment Award

Ken Muncie, Detail Department Manager at the Lynnwood Cycle Barn, for providing mentoring and job experiences to youth in Project REACH, a Workforce Investment Act Youth program for justice-involved youth

Bob Drewel Award for Economic Development
Bob Drewel congratulates Frank Cox and Diana Dollar on their reciept of the Bob Drewel Award for Economic Development Materials Process and Development Center, a partnership between Everett and Edmonds Community Colleges, for creating a highly skilled workforce within the advanced manufacturing industry in order to serve the needs of local manufacturing businesses

Larry Galli, retired Director of Everett Public Schools Career and Technical Education program, for his service to career and technical education

Promising Practice Award

Senator Maria Cantwell Award for Life Long Learning
Goodrich Aviation Technical Services, for promotion of on-going apprenticeship and training programs for their employees
