WorkSource
Everett provides accessible voting
WorkSource
Everett and the Snohomish County Workforce Development Council
are proud to have served 194 voters on election day, November
7, 2006 in its Transition Services office.
In
partnership with Snohomish County Election Distribution, the WorkSource
Everett office was open all day for voters
experiencing
disabilities to vote electronically using state-of-the-art adaptive
equipment. Election officials set up electronic voiting
machines in the office early that morning and 166 people voted
using the equipment.
Additionally,
the Transition Services office was open for people to drop off
their mail-in ballots as well. To
that end, 28 people dropped off completed ballots at the Transition
office. Voters commented that they appreciated being able
to use the facility because of its easy access. They also
liked having the choice of either voting by electronic machine
or simply dropping off their mail-in ballots. Michelle Smith,
from the Snohomish County Election Distribution, commented that
hosting voting at WorkSource Everett's Transition Services office
was "a great experience for us and the voters."
