In
an era of decreasing resources, it is more important than
ever to make sure that clients in need of social services
have the ability to get the help they need. One way
to ensure that clients are connected to the services they
require is by making meaningful referrals to providers who
can best serve each specific need.

Referrals
work best when state and local government agencies, non-profit
organizations, social service providers, and educational institutions
know about the services offered by other agencies in our community.
And in our busy work environment, it is often difficult to
find time to learn about other agencies.
The
Solution? The Snohomish County Agency Resource Fair.
On
Tuesday, October 3, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, at McCollum Park
in Everett , state and local government agencies, non-profit
organizations, social service providers and educational institutions
will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face, network, and
learn about the community of agencies in our county.
Fair
attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the Self-Sufficiency
Matrix, a client assessment tool based on Results Oriented
Management and Accountability (ROMA) standards, as well as
attend training sessions about the Self-Sufficiency Calculator.
The
fair will not be open to clients but rather will focus on
staff who make referrals in the community.
With
a better understanding of the services available to Snohomish
County residents and knowledge of the latest tools to measure
client self-sufficiency, agencies will be empowered to serve
clients more efficiently through meaningful referrals. In
addition, the Fair will foster a climate of celebration of
the connections between and among human service providers
in Snohomish County.
The
Resource Fair and training sessions are the result of a partnership
between Washington State Employment Security Department, Department
of Social and Health Services, the Snohomish County Workforce
Development Council, Department of Vocational Rehabilitation,
Snohomish County Human Services, United Way of Snohomish County,
and the Everett Housing Authority.
