Putting the Puzzle Together:

Expanding Snohomish County Partnerships

In an era of decreasing resources, it is more important than ever to make sure that clients in need of social services have the ability to get the help they need.  One way to ensure that clients are connected to the services they require is by making meaningful referrals to providers who can best serve each specific need.

Agency Resource Fair

Referrals work best when state and local government agencies, non-profit organizations, social service providers, and educational institutions know about the services offered by other agencies in our community.  And in our busy work environment, it is often difficult to find time to learn about other agencies.

The Solution?  The Snohomish County Agency Resource Fair.

AmeriCorps Program gears up for new year

by Sam Spitzer

AmeriCorps Program Director

The AmeriCorps Program welcomes 18 members into its 2006-2007 service year which began on August 23, 2006. Members begin their 11-month, 1,700 hour service commitment with two weeks of pre-service orientation. During this time, AmeriCorps 2006 AmeriCorps MembersProgram staff and local trainers cover topics such as: volunteer management, youth leadership and development, cultural competency, mentoring, job preparedness, marketing, special event planning, and goal setting. Members also receive CPR/First Aid/AED training, learn their Meyer's-Briggs personality profile, participate in talking circles and other team building activities, and complete a service project with Habitat for Humanity.
