The
Snohomish County Workforce Development Council (WDC), in partnership
with the Economic Development Council (EDC) of Snohomish County
and the Puget Sound Regional Council's Prosperity Partnership
Aerospace Cluster Working Group, has launched a Puget Sound Regional
Aerospace Skills Panel. Funded by a grant from the Washington
Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board, the Aerospace
Skills Panel aims to provide a forum in which key partnerships
and targeted goals will be created, thereby fostering healthy
economic and workforce development within this key industry cluster
in the Puget Sound Region.
The
first Panel meeting was held at the Future of Flight Museum on
May 16th, 2006, at which the panel outlined its major objectives
including coordinating a fall aerospace summit. The panel also
discussed ways in which to partner with other aerospace industry
entities. A determination was made that the Aerospace Skills Panel,
while managed jointly by the Snohomish County WDC and EDC, will
collaborate with the Aerospace Futures Alliance of Washington
(AFA), its board of directors, its committee structure, and its
members.
Business,
industry, and educational partners participating on the Panel
include the AFA of Washington, BAE Systems, Butcher Aerospace,
the Boeing Company, the City of Renton, Crane Aerospace, Deloitte
Consulting, LLP, Edmonds Community College, Everett Community
College, Form Factor, Inc., Goodrich Aviation, Hobart Machined
Products, IAM, Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Materials and Process
Development Center, Marketeer Unlimited, Neuvant Aerospace, the
Office of Senator Patty Murray, Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance,
Puget Sound Regional Council, Prosperity Partnership, MBE World,
Seattle-King County Workforce Development Council, Smiths Aerospace,
SPEEA, TECT Aerospace, Thomas James International, Toray Composites,
