Just In: AmeriCorps Program grant awarded!
The
Snohomish County WDC was notified on Monday, June 26, 2006 that
it was selected by the Corporation for National Service to receive
a three-year AmeriCorps Program grant. With this grant,
the
Snohomish
County WDC is joining 3,000 other organizations and 70,000 other
AmeriCorps members around the country in a movement of national
service!
Since
the WDC assumed responsibility for the AmeriCorps Program in September
2003, members have served nearly 18,000 youth in Snohomish County.
In the 2006-2007 service year, the AmeriCorps Program will launch
a new generation of social stewards, that is, empowered individuals
committed to dedicating their time and talent to a lifetime of
service as a vocation or avocation. This will be accomplished
through the integration of youth leadership/development and member
vocational education. Members will serve youth in schools and
community organizations throughout Snohomish County.
The
Snohomish County AmeriCorps Program is recruiting members for
its 2006-2007 service year to begin August 23, 2006. To find out
