This
Just In: AmeriCorps Program grant awarded!
The
Snohomish County WDC was notified on Monday, June 26, 2006 that
it was selected by the Corporation for National Service to receive
a three-year AmeriCorps Program grant. With this grant, the
Snohomish County WDC is joining 3,000 other organizations and 70,000
other AmeriCorps members around the country in a movement of national
service!

veterans served at 2006 Stand Down
On May
25, 2006, the WorkSource Everett Veterans Employment and
Training Services (VETS) unit hosted its third annual Veterans Stand
Down event. Held at the Washington Army National Guard Armory in
Everett, Stand Down is an annual fair that offers information to
veterans and their spouses about employment, readjustment trauma
intervention, disability claims, retraining options, homeless reintegration,
accessing benefits, and community resources.

Snohomish
County WDC awarded $300,000 for homeless veterans
U.S.
Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) announced on June 21, 2006 that
the Snohomish County Workforce Development Council will receive
$300,000 to help expedite the reintegration of homeless veterans
into the workforce.

AmeriCorps
members close out year of service at arts festival

Program Director
The
Snohomish County WDC's AmeriCorps Program members are days away
from graduation. For their final service project of
the 2005-2006 year, AmeriCorps members manned the children's booths
at the Edmonds Art Festival. On Friday, June 16, AmeriCorps members
helped children make top hats, wind chimes, bead people, picture
frames, magnets, and paper bag puppets.
